Coaching Training & Approach

My training as a coach

I obtained my coaching certification through Concordia University's Professional Goal-centric Certified Coach (PGCC) program and am currently working on my International Coaching Federation (ICF) ACC designation.

I have spent a great deal of my career working on things intercultural. This has resulted in a brain that is very much focused on diversity. Diversity, for me, goes far beyond race, or ethnicity, religion or nationality. Our diversity can be defined by gender identity, age, work, education, socio-economic status, politics, sexual orientation, hobbies, personality traits, and more. As I have grown more comfortable in my coaching practice, I realize that what I really consider myself is a "diversity coach".

A 'difference' approach to coaching

Or why I call myself a "diversity coach".

I firmly believe the issues that I can help a client navigate are routed in some new difference, or diversity, in their life - it may be a different manager, a new team, a change in work, family status, or relationships, or any of the many other challenges that seem to cause us to occasionally stumble in life. As a coach, I can help a client increase self-awareness, build knowledge and skills, and generally build curiosity and an ability to engage positively with differences/diversity when they encounter them.

My coaching generally happens online; let me know if you would prefer to meet in person (I am located in Kingston, ON).

Individual coaching

Individual coaching is a good option for those who are experiencing specific challenges that they can identify and that they feel are getting in the way of achieving their goals or some sort of fulfillment in their lives.

Individuals will be responsible for coming to each session with a specific topic to be explored and will commit to at least three hours of coaching (in half or full hour sessions) after an initial session to determine that we will work well together and want to embark on a coaching relationship.

If you would like to explore how we might work together, please email me.

Every IDI assessment completion comes with an Individual Profile and a personalized Intercultural Development Plan (IDP). If you are in a position that requires you to develop the skills and understanding to interact effectively with all types of diversity, you will benefit from a coaching package that begins with completion of your own IDI assessment and a 30-minute debrief of your profile, followed by four 60 minute coaching sessions that focus on the four parts of of your personalized IDP - Context, Goals, Challenges and Developmental Tasks.
